Student Stories: Janet
Janet joined Action For Employment in September on a 26 week course for her English and Maths. Janet had been at home caring for her children for a number of years.
Janet realised she had problems with her English and maths and found it frustrating when she could not help her children with their homework because of her difficulties.
She found it difficult to pluck up the courage to get help, but with the support of her advisor at Worsley Job Centre, Janet began a course. She found that she really enjoyed it and achieved the City and Guilds literacy level 1 qualification.
Janet has gone from strength to strength and after developing her skills still further, is now employed as a classroom assistant at A4E.
