Student Stories: Aidha

Aidha lives in Salford with her family and for most of her life only spoke Arabic. Aidha wanted to improve her English skills but was not very confident about beginning classes at college. Her Mother- in- law eventually persuaded her to take ESOL classes (English for speakers of other languages).
Aidha began classes at Pendleton College and at first was one of the quietest students in the class. She thought that because she had struggled with learning in her own country, the college classes would be too difficult for her. "I couldn't have been more wrong", said Aidha after a few short months, "I really enjoy my lessons and now I want to learn everything."
Already Aidha has passed Entry 2 and 3 and is now currently taking Level 1. Her English and her confidence have now improved so much that she is able to chat easily with her neighbours and is a volunteer at her Children's school. Aidha has also made several friends at within college and says her life has really changed.
