The Learning Support Certificate course (Unit One)

 This course is ideal for anyone who may be involved in supporting and developing workplace skills and may appeal to human resource staff, Trade Union Learner Reps, Team Leaders and those with a mentoring role. It will raise your awareness of the skills for life agenda and the impact of poor basic skills in the workplace this is an in-depth course and leads to a recognised qualification.

English for Presentations

Do you have to prepare presentations? Do you find it difficult to summarise and present the main points of your topic? This short course will look at how you can summarise large amounts to information into a few key points and turn it into a PowerPoint presentation. Although it will cover some basic PowerPoint principles, it will mainly concentrate on the style of language and presentation.

A short course to increase your awareness of the issues surrounding dyslexia. It will give information on the main signs and indicators and how it feels to be dyslexic. It will look at the simple steps you can take to make your organisation more dyslexic friendly. This course is suitable for anyone who has an interest in dyslexia, wants to help support dyslexic colleagues or service users or for individuals who might be dyslexic and would like more information.

Getting the message across?   Making reading easier for your audience

With over 1 million adults in Greater Manchester with reading skills below that of an 11 year old, it's important if you want to get your message across to follow the rules of readability. This course will guide you through the basic principles of best practice making your written communications more accessible.  You will look at design, text, illustrations, sentence structure and size and by the end of the course you will be able to use simple SMOG tests to check your own publications.
