My Story competition closed

We have received over 7,500 My Story entries from people of all ages and backgrounds sharing their own remarkable experiences - from surviving the blitz to meeting their one true love and even overcoming a fear of mice.

The standard of the stories has been incredibly high, so thank you for helping us to make My Story such a success!

What happens next?

The stories are now being read and judged to create a short list. All of the storytellers who have been shortlisted will be contacted by the end of February 2010. If an entrant has not been contacted by that point, please assume they have not been shortlisted for the competition.

Remember to look out for the TV series which will be broadcast later this year, along with the publication of the five winning stories as books.

Although the competition is closed you can still go to the website to read some of the fantastic entries we have received: bbc.co.uk/mystory

You can also visit the new 'raw words' area of the 'raw skills' website, for support with reading and writing: bbc.co.uk/raw/words

Resources

The My Story tutor resources, including workshop plans and quizzes, will stay live for a while yet, so if you'd like to download and save them for future story-telling activities, take a look in the tutor area of the 'raw partners' site: bbc.co.uk/raw/partners
