Welcome to October's edition of our newsletter!
BBC My Story has launched!
The BBC has launched a nationwide competition to find Britain's most remarkable real-life stories. Adults (18 +) are asked to enter their story online or via the post. Tales from fifteen finalists will be featured on BBC One in 2010. The competition's five winners will also see their experiences published as paperback books. The BBC competition is looking for great stories and judging will not be based on spelling or grammar.
My Story Website
People who enter online will have their story published on the My Story website (subject to passing house rules) for others to read. You can read the entries received so far right now online! The website is packed full of videos and interactive tools to help people plan and structure their stories as well as tips on writing styles and skills. In addition, short videos presented by Nina Wadia (EastEnders) and Lenny Henry (returning to the part of Deacus) show audiences how easy it is to get started.
My Story Roadshow
My Story has taken to the road this September and October. Visitors are invited to drop-in for celebrity interviews, film-making story workshops, story-telling tips from local BBC teams and more. Writing support is also on hand from the BBC's story gatherers, provided by the Open University. Upcoming venues include, Newport on Saturday 17th October, Blackpool on Saturday 24th October and Glasgow on Saturday 31st October. Find out more including times and dates on the My Story website.
