Family Learning offers fun courses for all the family
Free courses
Free crèche
Family Learning courses take place in schools, children’s centres and community venues across the city. Crèche facilities are provided where possible. Family learning aims to encourage family members to learn together in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
We offer:
Family work-shops, taster courses and short programmes.
Courses include:
- ‘Family Literacy’
- ‘Family Numeracy’
- ‘Keeping Up With the Children’
- ‘Play and Language’
- ‘Springboard’ (find out what’s on and join in taster sessions in art, dance, healthy cooking, IT, child development) Pick up a free goody bag!
Enjoy our family outings during most of our course
Wider Family Learning Includes:
- ‘Share’ (special time together in school sharing your child’s learning)
- ‘Story Sacks’ (make Story Sacks in school and share story time at home)
- ‘Healthy living’ ( fruit tasting, healthy cooking, heart start, outings)
- ‘Fathers and Families’ (special time for male carers and their children). Take the K’Nex challenge, Football Basics, cooking, dance
- ‘Art and Crafts’
- ‘Fun with Phonics’
- ‘Child Development’
All parents and carers will have the opportunity to join ‘Move On’ courses and gain a certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy.
Other courses are accredited with the Open College Network.
