Who we are
The Salford City Council Skills for Life Development Team is part of the Learning and Skills section.
The team works to:
- Raise the profile of Skills for Life within Salford
- Widen participation in Skills for Life learning
- Encourage learning providers to work together in support of Skills for Life
- Work with partners to deliver the Salford Skills for Life Strategy
- Improve the levels of literacy, numeracy and language in the city.
- Work in partnership with learning providers and funding bodies to meet the needs of Skills for Life learners across the city.
- Encourage and share good practice.
- Link Skills for Life to regeneration, employment and financial inclusion initiatives.
- Support employers, particularly public sector in raising the Skills for Life levels of their employees
- Support the delivery of the city’s Local Public Service Agreement and Local Area Agreement targets in Skills for Life.
- Foster a ‘whole city’ approach to Skills for Life.
- Progress in the delivery of the Salford Skills for Life Strategy is monitored by the Skills for Life and Adult Learning Strategy Group
It brings together senior representatives of the agencies in Salford involved in the planning and delivery of Skills for Life and wider adult learning. Membership of this group continues to grow.
